Australian experts are calling on government to fund fracture liaison services after a Sydney study showed they can reduce the risk of another fracture by 80%.
“Given our data, we would like both the State and Federal Governments to consider making fracture liaison services an integral part of post-fracture care in Australia,” said Professor Markus Seibel, Head of Endocrinology at Sydney’s Concord Hospital.
The study provided data on just over 400 patients with a symptomatic non-vertebral fracture who were eligible for referral to a minimal trauma fracture program.
